The International Rock Climbing Association (IRCA) was founded in 2011 during the 1st International Rock Climbing Research Congress, which was held at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand.  The mission of the IRCA is to bring researchers and climbers together to improve our understanding of the sport and to assist each other in improving climbing performance, teaching and coaching and our interaction with the environments in which climbing takes place.

As of this role we have established this website to serve and an online meeting place for researchers.  The contact details for members of the IRCA Executive Committee are published on these web pages, as are details of recent and an extended list of publications in the field to assist researchers and climbers who are searching for information about our sport.

In addition there is an on-line forum which can be used to provide a contact point for researchers and climbers around the world. It would be great if this was used to create new collaborations to further improve our understanding of the sport.
In September 2014 the IRCA will hold its second Congress in Switzerland, details will be published on this website as the programme and specific venues are finalised.
